The Dutch multiplier event of the ECCOE project has been organized by the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities, located in The Netherlands, in collaboration with the project coordinator AUNEGe, France, and two other partners: Knowledge Innovation Centre, Malta and Duale Hochschule Baden-Wuerttemberg (DHBW) Heilbronn, Germany.
It was a blended event compiled of two sessions: the ‘in presence’ one, which took place in the wonderful location of the University of Bari (IT), during the I-HE2021 conference, on November 04th, 2021; and the second, hosted online, on November 23rd, 2021.
The event was designed, as the title already explained, on the “why”, “what” and “how” of micro-credentials, in general, and ECCOE’s micro-credentials in particular. It has been a unique opportunity to see exactly what it takes, and what is needed to deliver a high-quality, verifiable, digital micro-credential.
Starting by looking at the key issue of ‘Why micro-credentials?’, participants got a step-by-step demonstration of what’s entailed when an organisation decides to take the leap and issue digitally-signed credentials to learners. The wider implications, with concrete examples of tools and approaches to facilitate trust, transparency and cross-institutional recognition have been also explored.
Probably because of its practical nature, the event had a great number of participants, able to endure 5 hours online session non- stop.
The session online, containing the step by step demo, is available at the following
